Quick drawings of some dudes/dudettes, and an even quicker color study of another dude I'm gonna start tonight. AND I finished another dude, so, picture of him tomorrow. He's part walrus, part man, ALL AWESOME. You will love him, like I love him.

'Til then, friends. Keep it classy.

Cloff G. Hoffernoff and DC

First, some photos from our trip. The rest are going on facebook or perhaps into the ether, as they didn't turn out very stunning. Lots of pictures of us looking tired. However, the city is wonderful, very clean, easy to navigate, lots to do, highly recommended.

Now, my new friend Cloff G. Hoffernoff. He's a good 2 and a half feet tall, took me, oh, a solid 2 weeks to finish him up. I'm going to start moving in this direction, this weird absurdist direction, for my new plushies. Big and beautiful and weird. Trying to put more personality into the faces, you know how that can be.

tikis and plushyouLA

So, I'm super busy the rest of this month! I have a tiki show in San Diego with the talented Mr. Parpan the weekend of the 21st, and my group show at Munky King for PlushYou!LA opens August 26th, 7-10pm! It runs through most of September, so no worries if you miss it.

The tikis below are some sketches for pins and hairclips for the tiki show. The bottom sketch is of my frankencreatures I'm making for the PlushYou! show. They'll both be on sale, and I'll post pictures of them when they're in a better state of completeness.

Finn, Rico, and Freddy

Rico, Freddy, and Finn, three tiki dudes on a mission to be Awesome. Developed these over the last few weeks. Probably going to do a big version (these are about 8 inches tall) for PlushYou! LA at Munky King in October. Should be super colorful and possibly, quite rad. Who knows?

Since I magically lost both my HD memory card AND reader for my rebel, you're stuck with shitty photobooth pics from my Mac. Sorry.

In other newst, I've been sketching and collaging in multiple sketchbooks. I'll post that stuff soonishly, too, if I don't get too busy. And by busy, I mean forget completely. Also, I'm working on a HALLOWEEN COSTUME IN JULY (because I'm crazy) and this year I'm going as Velma Dinkley, from Scooby-Doo.

I've always had a soft spot for Velma, because she's basically the secretly sexy nerd girl we all want to be, AMIRITE? Plus she's one of the few characters in the history of animation that is, ahem, short and wears glasses (otherwise she is practically blind), JUST LIKE ME. Maureen is going as Daphne Blake, so if anyone wants to complete our set (Freddy? Shaggy? Maybe even a makeshift Scoobert?) feel free. We're gonna nerd it up.

Ellie Hartford, the Country Bunny

Meet Ellie, she's a classy country bunny. The dress fabric I got in my plush trade with benandi.

In other news, I was looking back at old posts, and this came up: my news Year Resolutions. Let's seeeeee...

Oh, and because I didn't put this in the last post, here's some New Year's Resolutions:

-Be nicer
(uhhh)
-Be more patient (ummm)
-Be more social. (check?)
-Memorize some maps of LA so I don't have to google everything, I can just know. (check)
-Go to a concert. The Aquabats was awesome, I have to get out more. (hmm.)
-Draw more. (sigh.)
-Do a project in After Effects so I don't completely lose those skills. (double sigh.)
-Take more photos. (check)

3/8. How terrible. But at least I'm honest.

Dolores Grimsby

My newest Deer Girl. I'm currently working on a country style bunny girl. I have a show this Sunday, Nov. 1st, at the CAMP in Costa Mesa, so if you can make it out, please do. My table is 8, and it's indoors, so no sunburns or rain!

bloggity blog banner

Check it out, new banner and everything! The old one was nice, but I thought it was time to start having a cohesive brand for the plush parade. My business cards and Etsy have this design going, so why not have the portal blog match?

Oh, and coming to you from TatPar Productions, a new side project Justin and I have started working on (it's in the development stage now.) If you think of The Omen, Children of the Corn, and Eight Legged Freaks, plus babies who have freakish red hair, you have a pretty good idea of the plot. Here's the movie poster rough, a collab between Parps and myself.

Oh, and I'll be at the Handmade Brigade November 1st, Booth 8, at the CAMP in Costa Mesa. I'm indoors this time, so rain or shine, you should come say hello! I'll have some new products- needle-felted friends and deer/bunny girls for sale.

PlushYou online/ 200th post!

Me and Frank the Bigfoot at the show. In the top left, you can see the plush I purchased! He has antlers!

So, my pieces for the PlushYou! show are available online, in case you'd like to purchase one of them. Geoff the Giant Squid and Frank the Bigfoot! They don't have any info up on the site, but they're both made of felt, hand-sewn by me, and stuffed with polyful. The squid is gi-normous, at 3 feet long, and the Bigfoot is a around 18 inches tall.

I'll also be making some more deer girls (and bunny/cat/fox girls) over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled. (Or just open, because peeled is something you do to a banana, not so much your eyeballs.)

Oh, and we're off to APE tomorrow! I'll be hanging around the Goblin-Fish Press table, in case ya wanna seeeee me.

big ole week

Big week, I got featured on Drawn! on Monday, and just yesterday Shannon over at Rainbow Fabrics featured my plush owls (3rd store down!)

I'll also have some work in the new Ringling Made-By store, run by Nancy O'Neil. I believe it opens next month, so if you're in that neck of the woods, look out for some of my older work, and some new keychains I'm sending along soon.

This guy, name of Bosco, is also up in the store as of today!

Dolly the Deer Girl

This is the plush I've been working on for a little over a week now- stayed up late last night to finish her. I named her Dolly, and she's a deer girl (and yes, I know female deer don't have antlers.) I plan on working in this style on and off when I'm not making funny foods and monsters and simpler pieces. I really like her, maybe because she looks vaguely tired or pissed off.

She started off as this drawing I did at Joe's Diner.

The arms and legs and the line details in the hair are machine-sewn, but all the rest is hand-sewn, thus why it took so long to complete. The fabric I bought from hushbabyco on Esty, and the felt and other baubles are just bits I've collected over the years. Her eyes are safety plastic.

This particular doll won't be up for sale, as I'm keeping her to love for-ev-er, but I'll have some other ones up for sale by the end of the month, including a man with a giant moustache!

baby owl giveaway!

EDIT: Mare MacIntosh won, so congrats! I'll hold another giveaway next month, so keep your eyes pealed for it!

Howdy! In the awesome spirit of, um, early September, I'm running a giveaway this week for this little guy! All you have to do is leave a comment with your name and email and it'll be entered into a random drawing.

On Friday at noon, I'll pick a winner (I'm going assign each comment a number, and use a random number generator) and announce it THIS Friday at noon-thirty (both here, and on my twitter.) Then I'll contact the winner and send them this cute little owl!

In the spirit of fairness, one comment per person, plzkthnx.

Look at that cute little face! Doesn't it just say "Win Me!" ?

super owly mania + More to Love

All three of these super plushie pals are up in the store, so check 'em out! First is Pug, then Bim, and then the fabulous Pumpkin!

Also, is anyone watching More to Love? Because it's awesome in it's complete horrible-ness! I know that's mean, but whatever. Some of these girls are turbo pathetic, and it has nothing to do with their weight. Also, she's a model. Right.

been a long time

Two postables I made for the Fourth of July holiday last weekend! My fireworks postable KILLED. It was most excellent.

This is an unreleased Forget Me Not I wrote. I was really getting into the ole fife & drum spirit.

Something my co-worker. Dave, found online. Hilarity.

In other news, Comic-Con is coming up swiftly (July 22nd-26th), and I'll be helping out Justin and Josh at their booth there. I haven't decided if I'll make a costume or not- I was contemplating Goldilocks from Fables, but time is so elusive these days. But it wouldn't take much work, and I do love a good homicidal blonde...

I've also come up with some new designs for plushies, for the store. Those'll be up after Comic-Con finishes up. My Etsy store has not fallen by the wayside for long!
