sketchbook, christmas, roadtrip, oh my

[Finally] worked in my sketchbook. It's moleskine, and awesome, and I'll hopefully have more time over our break to work in it a little bit. Other than that, Justin and I are going to Indiana the day after Christmas, then driving back to Los Angeles via the highways and bi-ways of old timey America. We're planning on stopping in Missouri, and the Grand Canyon, so pictures will be posted upon my return.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. Here's to 2010!

uniqueLA this weekend

And yours truly will be there selling sweet plushies to all the lovely holiday shoppers! If you're in the LA area, and still need to pick up some sweet stuff for people on your holiday list, come check out uniqueLA downtown!

I'll be at Booth 4014, near some delicious fud vendors, so come see me! I'm sharing with Senor Parpan, so Goblin-Fish Press prints, books, etc will also be in the near vicinity!

I'll have owls, super limited mini owls (ooohhh aahhhh), felt food, custom dolls, and even a Deer Girl or two! Fun should be had by all!

Owls!

Meet Fritz the mini owl, and Burtie the... regular... sized owl... Both are on my etsy, but I have about, oh, say, 10 more ready for UniqueLA on the 5th and 6th of December. If you're in the LA-area, come check it out, Justin and I are at booth 4014! I have all manner of plush goodness, and he'll have some sweet prints and toys, including his new Hipster Bigfoot!

Now, on to the owls! (More pictures coming this week!)

Drusilla McDowell

My newest deer girl, she has a sort of goth vibe. Her name is a mixture of Julia Drusilla, the favorite sister of Roman emperor Caligula, and Malcom McDowell, who played the title character in the 1979 movie, Caligula.

disney in november

Some photos from our trip to Disneyland today. I tweaked with them in photoshop a bit to make them more interesting to me, or less blown out, until the last two or three. They either had cool light already, or were just plain weird. The last photo is the dinosaurs in the "Primeval World" on Disneyland Railroad.

cheapsters birds

So, I'm currently working on a commission from Jackie Lam, who runs the Cheapsters blog, which finds fun (cheap or free) things to do around the L.A. area and posts them. She wanted some plushies of her logo, the cheapsters bird, for Christmas presents and blog giveaways. There's ten of them in this batch, and here's some of my progress.

My work desk is a total mess- covered in bird fluff, deer girl dress parts, and plushies, but these are coming along pretty awesomely. They're made of fleece instead of felt, so it's a new medium for me, very exciting. I also put Ellie up in my etsy store, and she'll be available there until Unique L.A. in December.

Ellie Hartford, the Country Bunny

Meet Ellie, she's a classy country bunny. The dress fabric I got in my plush trade with benandi.

In other news, I was looking back at old posts, and this came up: my news Year Resolutions. Let's seeeeee...

Oh, and because I didn't put this in the last post, here's some New Year's Resolutions:

-Be nicer
(uhhh)
-Be more patient (ummm)
-Be more social. (check?)
-Memorize some maps of LA so I don't have to google everything, I can just know. (check)
-Go to a concert. The Aquabats was awesome, I have to get out more. (hmm.)
-Draw more. (sigh.)
-Do a project in After Effects so I don't completely lose those skills. (double sigh.)
-Take more photos. (check)

3/8. How terrible. But at least I'm honest.

Pre-Halloween 2009

We missed our weekly wagon due to Internet Issues on Wednesday (aka the Worst Day Ever) so Corey brought around the wagon today, with pumpkins! Justin went all out.

Dave gave Justin's a little hat. Very festive.

Mike made a Marx brother. I forget which one exactly... Groucho?

Here's Justin's and I's together. I made Oliver. You can see I added his big ole butt on the back.

Here's all the pumpkins, and a close-up of Amia's.

And good times were had by all!

Dolores Grimsby

My newest Deer Girl. I'm currently working on a country style bunny girl. I have a show this Sunday, Nov. 1st, at the CAMP in Costa Mesa, so if you can make it out, please do. My table is 8, and it's indoors, so no sunburns or rain!
