there's something wrong with you

I don't know if I plan on doing anything more with this one. Probably not.

somebody i used to know

I've been working quite extensively in my sketchbook as of late, here's some pages. Super delicious cookie points to anyone who can name the either the second or third fellow (without clicking to check the file name, that's cheating. Don't cheat.)

This bottom one here is very much in process. I'll do a post after the holidays to show the evolution of the page. Anyhoooo, as I won't be seeing you til the new year... Happy Christmas/Festive Thing You Celebrate or Choose Not to Celebrate (whatevs) and Happy New Year! To a wonderful 2012, eh?

temper-temper-temperature

I found a sketchbook and started working in it again a few weeks ago. The cover says "Peeves" and it's made out of the Perspectives magazine. (Thanks, Ringling!) I never notice my dependency on the color yellow until it's staring me right in the face. It's a sunny color. Very apt for a California winter, I guess.

Figure drawings from work (which has been suspended until 2012), and the text in the third is from A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, which I completely ripped apart for an altered book only because it was thick and had a long title. Pieces of it's insides will show up now and again in lots of things. There's also weird diagrams and things inside, which I collect all magpie-like.

But I'll tell you, dear reader, it sure feels good to be working again. There were weeks (months?) that I was writing a lot, a lot, but not drawing, or making monsters, or doing anything with my hands other than typing on the ol' computer. Now I'm trying to balance things again, but who knows how long that will last, since winter is always that part of the year I hate the most and have a tendency to drop off the side of the world.

In an unrelated note: Did you know Iggy Pop does the backing vocals in Rolodex Propaganda? Go listen to it. I'll wait. ............Yeah! That's totally him! He's amazing! Don't you just want to high five that dude? Yeah, I know! Me, too! Iggy Pop is the coolest. Remember when he was on Pete & Pete? Crazy.

sketchbook, christmas, roadtrip, oh my

[Finally] worked in my sketchbook. It's moleskine, and awesome, and I'll hopefully have more time over our break to work in it a little bit. Other than that, Justin and I are going to Indiana the day after Christmas, then driving back to Los Angeles via the highways and bi-ways of old timey America. We're planning on stopping in Missouri, and the Grand Canyon, so pictures will be posted upon my return.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. Here's to 2010!

they think they are dogs

So, lots of cool people have been posting lots of cool work, and I thought I'd join the wave of awesome. I'm back from my vacation in midwestland, so here's some sketchbook pages from my most recent moleskine "Truth." Usually the only times I get to draw these days are in diners with Justin, or at figure drawing on wednesdays. Alas. One of these days I will have all the time in the world to do whatever I want.

On a completely different but much more amusing note: I found you can buy 3 lady goats on Craigslist for $150.00. And to think my father laughed when I said I was going to purchase a goat instead of a lawnmower. Hello?! Waaay cheaper. On yeah, and there's also this. Love craigslist. <3

4 x the awesome

A quick 2 hour color I threw onto a previous sketchbook page. Sometimes it's good to get on the computer... outside work, anyway. Oh, and I added the JibJab blog to my "other places to stop" link list- I'm in some photos, plus there's nice shots of where I work, if you're curious. Our office looks like a pirate ship. :D

dino party!

So, this is Ernesto, the Tyrannosaur. He's a vegetarian, though, otherwise his friend Burt wouldn't be... his friend. Yes.

In other news, I started a new sketchbook, and it's going pretty well. I have some figure drawings, and some collage-y stuffs in it so far. Might go sketching this weekend, too, so I'll post that stuff next week when I can.

Oh, and because I didn't put this in the last post, here's some New Year's Resolutions:

-Be nicer
-Be more patient
-Be more social.
-Memorize some maps of LA so I don't have to google everything, I can just know.
-Go to a concert. The Aquabats was awesome, I have to get out more.
-Draw more.
-Do a project in After Effects so I don't completely lose those skills.
-Take more photos.

Other than that, I'm gonna try to update this twice a week or so. Hope everyone is doing well in blog-land.

slow decay... I won't stop fighting you...

Told ya I'd finally get some drawings and stuff up here! So these are all from my current moleskine... the third is a collage I did the last night of my class... some figure drawings from JJ wednesdays... I love drawing really fat women. I had to blow the contrast out on it in photoshop though, otherwise you couldn't see anything. The top two are just random spreads from the moleskine I liked. Now I promise I'll post more drawings and so forth.

Thanks to Ben for helping with the missing drivers and such.

He always took the time to speak with me

...And I liked him for that.

Something I started/finished working on today. Originally it was for Illustration Fridays topic "Late" but other than that clock... I don't know how it relates. I haven't had time to draw in my sketchbook much lately, but this weekend has been an exception. I want to finish it by Christmas-ish time, so I best start cracking. I also picked up American Gods and Coraline from the bookstore. It's about time I started reading again.

It's about time I started doing a lot of things again.

hairy bits

Some pages from my sketchbook. The first is some packaging ideas for an alphabet font/magnet set I made, the other two are drawings I did when I was on this kick where I drew everything with hair.
