Munky King & PlushYou!LA

So, PlushYou!LA was a big hit! Justin & I went to the opening last Thursday at Munky King, which is a super cool little gallery down on Melrose. I was one of only 65 artists from around the world that was chosen for the show. It was super awesome to be able to be apart of a show in town that celebrates plush.

Here's an article about the show. You can see my dudes at the bottom there in the gallery slideshow.

If you were interested in seeing what is still up for grabs, you can check out Munky King's gallery/shop right here. There's a lot of variety, so check it out!

In other news, Justin and I are off to Washington, DC tonight for the Labor Day weekend. We'll be visiting lots of museums, monuments, and memorials, gettin' our history on. Hope everyone else has a wonderful extended weekend, and I'll post pictures soon of our adventures!

P.S. Tiki Con was great, I sold some miniature tiki guys. I also have some available in my store.

Ellie Hartford, the Country Bunny

Meet Ellie, she's a classy country bunny. The dress fabric I got in my plush trade with benandi.

In other news, I was looking back at old posts, and this came up: my news Year Resolutions. Let's seeeeee...

Oh, and because I didn't put this in the last post, here's some New Year's Resolutions:

-Be nicer
(uhhh)
-Be more patient (ummm)
-Be more social. (check?)
-Memorize some maps of LA so I don't have to google everything, I can just know. (check)
-Go to a concert. The Aquabats was awesome, I have to get out more. (hmm.)
-Draw more. (sigh.)
-Do a project in After Effects so I don't completely lose those skills. (double sigh.)
-Take more photos. (check)

3/8. How terrible. But at least I'm honest.

big ole week

Big week, I got featured on Drawn! on Monday, and just yesterday Shannon over at Rainbow Fabrics featured my plush owls (3rd store down!)

I'll also have some work in the new Ringling Made-By store, run by Nancy O'Neil. I believe it opens next month, so if you're in that neck of the woods, look out for some of my older work, and some new keychains I'm sending along soon.

This guy, name of Bosco, is also up in the store as of today!

Dolly the Deer Girl

This is the plush I've been working on for a little over a week now- stayed up late last night to finish her. I named her Dolly, and she's a deer girl (and yes, I know female deer don't have antlers.) I plan on working in this style on and off when I'm not making funny foods and monsters and simpler pieces. I really like her, maybe because she looks vaguely tired or pissed off.

She started off as this drawing I did at Joe's Diner.

The arms and legs and the line details in the hair are machine-sewn, but all the rest is hand-sewn, thus why it took so long to complete. The fabric I bought from hushbabyco on Esty, and the felt and other baubles are just bits I've collected over the years. Her eyes are safety plastic.

This particular doll won't be up for sale, as I'm keeping her to love for-ev-er, but I'll have some other ones up for sale by the end of the month, including a man with a giant moustache!

super owly mania + More to Love

All three of these super plushie pals are up in the store, so check 'em out! First is Pug, then Bim, and then the fabulous Pumpkin!

Also, is anyone watching More to Love? Because it's awesome in it's complete horrible-ness! I know that's mean, but whatever. Some of these girls are turbo pathetic, and it has nothing to do with their weight. Also, she's a model. Right.

Some new stuff that's either up in the store, or on its way to that location. I also have a big awesome update either later this week, or early next week. Stay tuned.

Also- Justin and I made the JibJab blog today! To see cute ginger-ish artist peoples holding even cuter fuzzy animals- Check it out!

sky and sea

A cute new keychain for the store- based off an icon set I made earlier in the week. There's ninjas, top hatted gentlemen, and bears with mustaches... perhaps I'm too busy for my own good, I think?

Those fish commissions I was talking about awhile ago- two white Goldfish, and two yellow Pufferfish. I finally got them done a few days ago, and surprised Dave (a co-worker at JJ) with them at our monthly show & tell. They're pretty big- sorry for both the blurriness of the photos, I was in a hurry, and the mess that is my back room/studio.

Oh, and there's more to come next week.

Lilybot the Lady Bot

Lilybot is the lady friend of Raydon I was blah-blahing about a few days ago. I might make them a little baby bot in the form of a keychain, but I seem to have more ideas than I have time in which to make them all, so.. we'll see. I also have some fish done for Dave's commission, so I'll post those next week (beautiful white goldfish, oooohhh ahhhhhh.)

Oh, I'll be adding some Valetine-y content to the store in the next few days. And because Valentine's Day is just around the corner (well, if you're a planner like me, it is) I'll be running a special.

Free shipping on all U.S. packages, if you enter the code "YAY FOR HEARTS AND STUFF" in the 'message to the seller' when you purchase a plush. Plus there might be some V-Day related goodies in your package, as well.

So yeah, good times for all.
