Hi. I'm still alive and kicking. Trying to get a bunch of projects wrapped up before they're all due in a week and a half. My biggest time drain at the moment is my portfolio site, though... making thumbnails and clipping masks is beyond annoying. I should have that stuff up soon, and I'll go all link-tastic for my re-design of wikipedia, too.
Oh, and we picked classes:
Digital Video
Writing the Graphic Narrative
Graphic Design Three (with Edwin at 330)
Printmaking
Proposed Independent Study with Don Brandes
Mr. Brandes decided to take me on since the registrar is being a butt about letting me into Illustration Media. Too many freshmens, apparently. Blah. But it'll be cool. He was all "I'll teach you how to draw, it'll be fun!" I think he is as excited as I am.
So, thats it. Do I have any classes with you?

picnic par-tays

So, I got the Design Center for next year, which is sweet. But on top of that, David & Goliath contacted me yesterday about my portfolio (sent it to them Saturday, got word on Monday, thats amazing!) so picture me freaking out. Just that they are even vaguely interested in my work makes me giddy! I am one lucky duck.
I think it balances my current plague-like state quite well, don't you?
Anyway, the pictures is from my moleskine, I just colored it in photoshop. Huzzah!

magazine spreads

These are some magazine spreads we did recently in Graphic Design. I'm really happy with how they turned out, even though a bit of the top and bottom got cut off in Photoshop for some reason. Oh well.
I'll be posting some pictures from my new book (the clamshell) called "Me, Ben, and our 10 friends." I'm sewing finger puppets and we're photographing them in different places. It will eventually be an accordian fold book, set into a clamshell bookcasing with the collection of 10 finger puppets.

the book of stuff and things
Some of the pages/spreads from my first full artist's book in Patrick's class. I made a plush version of the little guys above (in the flames.)
Oh, and this was all in micron ink (line art) and watercolour, handbound, etc etc. The cover is bookcloth (for the quarterbound part) and gray Canson paper, with laquer transfers for all the text/rendered images. Hope you enjoy.
We're starting a 3 volume set of books for our next project. Mines in three different languages, so that should be interesting. Hopefully I can learn some German before this summer.

breakin', yo
And now... It's spring break, and I need it. I will be working on commissions, and doing errands, and helping my Pops, but otherwise, it's chill time with Ben. Hope you lot have a good time in NYC and beyond, and don't spend all that ArtVenture money in one spot. Word.
Oh, and I have this up too: http://webspace.ringling.edu/~ttatman/how
If you don't have Flash, then I'm afraid you are out of luck on this one. But it's tight, so check it out if you get the chance.

old finds

I was working on my portfolio, and I found this. It's a matrix poster for a magnifying glass, and probably one of two cool things I actually got out of Matt Normand's class last year. I'm currently re-working my final icon poster to see if I can use it for my portfolio. Le sigh...
I applied for my passport today. It wasn't as much hassle as people make it out to be, and now I feel this-much-closer to Switzerland. It's a good feeling.
