great news

So, great news this week. I won a silver ADDY at regionals. AND, I got into the 2009 PlushYou! show. I'm going to create one-of-a-kind 3 pieces for it while will be exhibited and also be for sale at the show, and then the show opens in Seattle, Washington October 9th! I'm going to fly up there for the opening, I cannot be more excited... unless they had a Disneyland up there. But they do not, so that's that.

If you've ever been there, feel free to tell me the awesome things to do. I've got the Space Needle, the first Starbucks, and the Woodland Park Zoo on my list so far, but it's big awesome city and I'd like to see lots while I'm there.

its only a problem if you acknowledge it

I need to get a big yard, stat. So cute! So functional!
Also, three things I want to learn to do before 2010 rolls around:

-Letterpress
-Properly frame things
-Wood-burning/cutting.

I know, totally random and weird, but check this out: That's amazing, right? And this?

And, because pictures r kewl:

made in the shade

So... awesome news! Super Punch! plugged me a few days ago on their crazy awesome blog where they basically show off all the coolest stuff they find everyday. How totally friggin' awesome is that? I feel all special and stuff. Thanks!

Also, a new plush series I'm developing, inspired by the unemployed: Happy Sacks. Good Luck VooDoo Dolls.

You can pop a message in their pouch, or perhaps a small candy for luck. They are squishy and fun and coming to an etsy (my etsy, specifically) near you!

Oh, and my absolute adorable-ness also graced the most recent entry on the JibJab blog- I brought in eggs for dying purposes. Woot. Despite the shortness of the weekend, it's been pretty awesome!

JJ Holidaze

Some Easter/Passover work I did for JibJab over the last few weeks. The top two I wrote, as well, and created all the felty goodness for the third.

Don't you just want to buy an entire set of encyclopedias from him? Up in the store as of this morning.

they think they are dogs

So, lots of cool people have been posting lots of cool work, and I thought I'd join the wave of awesome. I'm back from my vacation in midwestland, so here's some sketchbook pages from my most recent moleskine "Truth." Usually the only times I get to draw these days are in diners with Justin, or at figure drawing on wednesdays. Alas. One of these days I will have all the time in the world to do whatever I want.

On a completely different but much more amusing note: I found you can buy 3 lady goats on Craigslist for $150.00. And to think my father laughed when I said I was going to purchase a goat instead of a lawnmower. Hello?! Waaay cheaper. On yeah, and there's also this. Love craigslist. <3

deep sea exploring

A new plush I finished last week and just got around to posting- Deep Sea Diver Dave & Norbert! He'll [probably] be the last plushie I add to the store before my vacation- Yes, you heard right, I leave for Indiana in the AM tomorrow! I'll post some pictures of interesting things upon my return.

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend, and I will see you in a week!

And to Ringlingers: JibJab is coming to Ringling April 1st, so make sure you get your portfolios ready! Storyboards, layout, awesome drawings... And it'd be nice to see some Floridian blood around the office, no?

pop gun shooter

Before moving across the great US of A this last summer, I cleaned out our old house a bit. Found tons of pictures, but the only ones that caught my eye were the "funny shaped ones" and the old polaroids. When I first saw this one, I thought it was my mom, but after closer inspection and Justin's keen knowledge of 50's atomic lady-fashion, it turns out it's actually my maternal grandmother. Geez louise did they look alike, though!

I've never met her, she died when my mom was just in college, but this picture makes me think she must have been a pretty happenin' lady, at least in her younger years.

Anyhow, next week I go on vacation (finally) for a whole glorious week in beautiful (and freezing) Indiana. I'll post my latest creations before then, though, I promise.

rabbitz, wurd

Easter is coming. Hey-oh!

Note: Do not adjust your monitor, the color really is that bright, and the picture is purposefully blurred.

EDIT, ZOMG: For real arts, kindly check out the JJ Production Blog, some sketches I did for Easter chicks made it: Baby chicks!

holy snap- you's got a camera on dat fone!

Went sailing this weekend in San Diego, and we saw some of my most favorite of legless creatures, a big old group of seals basking in the sun on a buoy. Being the nerd that I am, I climbed up to the bough of the boat and started barking at them- AND THEY BARKED BACK! I am now officially one of them! Don't you just want to hug the crap out of them? Oh yeah, and we also saw a gray whale, but I didn't get a picture.

And these are some brownies I baked tonight for St. Patty's Day tomorrow. I will (most likely) completely forget to wear green, and someone will inevitably pinch me. And it will hurt, because I'm a wimp. So I baked these so at least they'll feel bad for pinching me, because I had one, and they are delicious.

So I know this is kind of a wackadoodle post, but whatevs. It'll do until I can get some for-serious pics of my new plush work- which includes a very large, very cute puppy, and a deep sea diver.

Oh, and one of my customers left feedback on my etsy today that just made me smile like a lunatic: "This is so awesome!" Hooray!
